Boy Will I Be Glad When The 27th Comes And Goes…

OMG!!! I can’t get over all the “speculation” that is going on with the Mac Blogosphere these days over the announcement that Apple is going to make on the 27th. There have been times when the anticipation of an announcement was pretty high and blogs were buzzing, but nothing at all like now.
Don’t get me wrong, I would love to see Apple come out with a tablet device. However, I’m not about to wet myself with anticipation. Maybe that’s because I’m unemployed and wouldn’t be able to afford the device. I really just think that I am sick to death of reading post after post about what Apple is going to announce on the 27th.
I’m going to be laughing my ass off when Steve comes out and announces new iMac’s and maybe some new iPods and that’s it.
However, I suspect that it will be more than that. There will probably be an announcement of an iPhone OS 4 (it’s due), it won’t be ready for a few months after the announcement though since developers haven’t seen anything yet.
I suspect that there will also be an announcement of a tablet device of some kind. Since if there is a new iPhone OS, it would make sense to keep it secret if it works with a tablet device.
Still, the blog post that cracked me up the most was the deep analysis of the image that came with the invitation to the announcement. Almost each paint spatter was analyzed to justify the rumor of a tablet device.
Its great that Mac enthusiasts get excited about upcoming products and announcements. You really don’t see that with Windows products. Still, I’m almost tempted to unsubscribe to the blogs I read until after the 27th just to get some relief from all the tittering.
Preach it, Dave. I decided this morning to swear off Apple-based podcasts until February 1. I’m sick to death of hearing about the new, magical device that will surely usher in our technological salvation. Mac Break Weekly is the absolute worst. The last 3 weeks have been almost an entire hour of speculation. Leo is so obsessed with it he sounds like he’s about to burst a vein, and even when someone tries to bring up a new subject, he brings the conversation right back to speculation. Hell, I even turned off Mac OS Ken this morning. I just can’t take it any more.
I thought the iPhone speculation was bad, but this is approaching obscene. Seriously? There’s nothing else to talk about?
I actually haven’t been listening to Mac OS Ken lately. I probably will, like you, after January ends.
I bet Leo is going ape over it. He couldn’t get enough of Twitter back when it first opened. His panels were so annoyed with him and Twitter that I think some decided to stop showing up for a while. I wonder if that will happen again if/when the iTablet/iSlate/iWhateverthefuck comes out.
The one good thing from all this is that Apple’s stock is climbing very nicely. It will crash horribly after the 27th no matter what the announcement is. For some reason that always happens. I have been told its due to anticipation, but I would think that if a “jesus” tablet is announced that Apple’s value would skyrocket.
I see more and more doctors using tablet computers when seeing their patients and a device that used touch instead of a stylus seems the perfect tablet device to me. My gastro doctor has an iPhone and was all excited about the Comics app from Comixology last week. I don’t know if he got it, but he sounded like he would.
I have no doubt that the iWhatever will be innovative and have a huge impact, both in technology, society and Apple’s bottom line. Like you, I just wish people would STFU about it.
WHY AM I POSTING ABOUT THIS?
